Ever since the Attic Outlet has existed, we have held a Volunteer Banquet that takes place every year. The purpose of the banquet is to take a moment to honor the volunteers who make our ministry what it is. In the banquet, we have a wonderful meal catered, we have entertainment to watch, and at the end of the event, we honor one very special volunteer with the title of "Volunteer of the Year."
This award goes to the person who is a standout volunteer. The kind of person who goes above and beyond for the sake of our ministry. Year after year, we have had several volunteers who have taken home this award for their standout service. This year, we didn't a person take home the award. Instead, we had a family take it home: the Michael's family.
Allow me to tell you a little bit about this family. Bob and Cathy Michael's have been volunteers for a year at the Attic Outlet. From the moment they got here, they have hit the ground running and have never stopped. They are the kind of volunteers who come day after day to our ministry with a joyful spirit that blesses everyone who they come in contact with. They are the kind of volunteers who take their projects home if they didn't finish them during their day here. They are the kind of volunteers who bring their friends and loved ones in to join forces in what they were already doing here at The Attic. They are the kind of volunteers who love our ministry and what it stands for.
Cathy Michael's is over the linen department at the Attic. She sorts, cleans, and prices all of our linen items. Her husband Bob is over our food pantry ministry. You can always find him hard at work in the food pantry sorting, organizing, and bagging items that we have in the pantry. Together, they make one dynamic duo.
A few months into volunteering, the Michael's started bringing in their grandchildren to volunteer with us! These cute kids come in almost as much as their grandparents do. Not only that, but they are just as hardworking as their grandparents are. Their four grandchildren Sam, Ella, Sophie, and Ethan are equally divided when they are here. The girls help their grandmother sort through Barbie dolls while dressing them in cute outfits and occasionally braiding their hair. While the girls are hard at work dong that, the boys run off with their grandfather to help in the food pantry. They enjoy bagging bread with him and organizing donations.
Needless to say,we don't know where we would be without the Michael's family! Their hard work, loving spirits, and dedication to our ministry earned them the title of "Volunteer's of the Year" this year. From the bottom of our hearts, we love you Michael's family! Thank you for all that you do.
